Information Requests 

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, which came into force on 1 January 2005, gives you the right to access information held by Scottish public authorities, including Assessors and Electoral Registration Officers.

From January 2005, any written request for information to a public authority is regarded as a request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act. You do not have to quote the Act, but you do have to make the request in writing either by correspondence, fax or e-mail.

City Assessor's Publication Scheme 

Information which has already been published has been described in the City Assessors Publication Scheme, which lists the types of information held by the Assessor. Publication schemes have to specify the classes of information which each authority publishes or intends to publish, details how it publishes the information and indicate whether the information is provided free or for a charge. Most of the information detailed in the City Assessor's scheme is already available to the public.

Scottish Information Commissioner 

All publication schemes rerquire to be approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner, an independent official responsible for overseeing the operation of Freedom of Information in Scotland. For more information follow the link below:
