What is a poll card?

Poll Cards

What are they?

In the weeks before an election, all eligible people who are registered to vote will be sent a letter known as a poll card. Your poll card contains the following information: the location of your polling station, the date of the election, the opening times, and your voting method. You do not have to take your poll card with you to vote. Poll cards for the election on the 7th of May 2026 will be issued from around the 19th March. If you have not received one by around the 24th March, contact us to check that you are registered to vote.

Is it a card or a letter?

While called a poll card it will look like a letter and will come in an envelope. This will say on the outside “Your Poll Card is enclosed”
