Freedom of Information and Data Protection

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by Scottish Public Authorities. Members of the public already have the right of access to information about themselves under the Data Protection Act 1998 but this new Act greatly extends this right from 1 January 2005.
