Changing your name on the electoral register

If you have recently changed your name you should update your details on the electoral register. There are a number of ways to do this.

Go Online

You can visit the government website at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and apply to register in your new name.

When you apply online to register to vote, applications are verified against other government records and should this not match, then we will send you correspondence to provide additional information and evidence.

By completing a Change of Name Form

If you are already registered to vote we can send you a Change of Name Form to complete. You must also provide information to support this change of name form.

You can email us a request at [email protected] or telephone our office to have a form posted out on 01786 892289.

If you are not registered already then a change of name form is not applicable and you will have to apply to register to vote in your new name. See above to go online or below to register by telephone.

By Telephone

If you can’t go online to register to vote, you can call our office on 01786 892289 and register to vote. You will need your National Insurance Number.
