Elections in 2025

There will be a local government by-election in Wards 7 (Tain and Easter Ross) and 11 (Caol and Mallaig) on Thursday 25 September 2025.

You must be 16 or over by 9 September 2025 and registered to vote, to be able to vote in this election.  You can find further information on how to register to vote here.

If you want to apply for a postal or proxy vote, application forms can be found on the Electoral Commission’s website.

How to return your application form to us

You can return completed application forms to any of our offices by post or by email to [email protected] – we can only accept black & white clear scanned images under 50MB (51200kB).  We cannot accept photographs of application forms. Address details for our offices can be found here

Election Deadlines

Electoral Registration Officer deadline dates are noted below.

Registration deadline	Midnight, Tuesday 9 Sept 2025
Deadline for new postal vote applications and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes	5pm, Wednesday 10 Sept 2025
Deadline for new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy)	5pm, Wednesday 17 Sept 2025
